Founders Swedish Barista Champions Anne Lunell and Charles Nystrand's coffee careers began while studying at university, and they later moved to Oslo to pursue their passion full-time. In 2009, they opened Koppi in Helsingborg after receiving a call from a restaurant owner who was selling his space. The journey from there would take Koppi to become one of the most renowned specialty coffee roasters in the industry, even helping shape the way direct trade is practised today.

New on the scene as roasters, the founders of Swerl, Beatriz Morais Ferreira and Daniel Carlsson, were inspired by the delicious coffee they tasted on a trip to New Zealand, and decided to bring sustainable, high-quality coffee to everyone. They started by constructing a mobile coffee bar in a vintage Mercedes bus and then opened their own micro roastery just outside Falkenberg where they roast coffee in small batches often working directly with producers to ensure the highest quality beans.
