A Journey From Niche to National Obsession
This autumn, we’re back in our home country, England. After our rigorious tastings, by sheer coincidence, all four roasters selected this month ended up London-based! This month offers the perfect chance to experience one of the world’s leading coffee cities. We’re proudly presenting the highest standard coffees from both old friends and some new faces — all some of the most creative talents in town!
Calico Coffee
(London, UNITED KINGDOM)
Founded by Junchao ‘Jonny’ Huang (an architect with a background in brewing competitions) and nestled in Waterloo on Lower Marsh, Calico Coffee is one of London’s newer specialty café gems. Since its opening, the café has drawn attention for its design-led, warm and minimalist space, a hand-built pourover bar and carefully curated coffee selection brewed to perfection. The interior is warm and minimalist, and artful touches that nod to its thoughtful branding.
Jonny invited us to a very special tasting session at the café to select a coffee for this set. All of their coffees on the menu were exceptional and it was a tough choice, but we’re thrilled to have this rare & unbelievably clean natural Kenyan. It’s bright and juicy bursting with peach & berry sweetness. Notably, Patrik Rolf of April Coffee won this year’s Swedish Barista Championship with the washed version of this coffee too!

Kamavindi
Plum, Red Grapes, Panela Sugar, Peach & Berries
Origin: Kenya
Roast Type: Filter
Region: Embu
Process: Natural
Variety: SL28
Altitude: 1700m
Producer: Peter Mbature
Kamavindi Farm was established by the late John Njiru Mbature during British colonial rule in 1958. Initially, the 20-hectare (~50-acre) farm began with just 100 seedlings due to a law restricting native Africans to a maximum of 100 trees. After these restrictions were lifted in 1961, John planted an additional 500 trees. Over the years, Kamavindi has expanded its land and now boasts a total of 10,000 trees: 7,000 SL28 and 3,000 Ruiru 11.
Today, Peter Mbature, his mother Hellen Weveti, and his sister Gladwell Wanjira manage the farm together. They aim to replace the Ruiru 11 trees with SL28, creating a farm of pure SL28. Additionally, they are establishing a training center to educate farmers and coffee buyers on processing and farm management.
High Note Roasters
(London, UNITED KINGDOM)
High Note Roasters is a small, independent coffee roasting venture founded by George and Arina, based in London’s N1. Dedicated to showcasing rare, floral coffees with delicate, tea-like clarity, the duo carefully sources exceptional beans and roasts them in small batches. Their journey began with a shared fascination for specialty coffee, shaped by tastings across Europe and a deep curiosity for nuanced flavours. At their Kings Cross hub, they meticulously test and refine each roast, driven by a passion for exploration and discovery.
This natural anaerobic catuai showcases the excellence of Panama’s terroir and processing methods. With a remarkable 91 cupping score, it highlights orange blossom notes, balanced sweetness, and a refined, buttery mouthfeel. Subtle hints of caramel round out the finish, making it a sophisticated, memorable coffee experience.

PLOT Roasting, founded in Woolwich, London in 2019, is all about celebrating great coffee with integrity and care. With a focus on honesty and consistency, the team sources unique coffees directly from producers, building transparent and fair relationships. Their “roast, taste, repeat” approach reflects a love for precision and craftsmanship. Committed to both quality and positive impact. Plot has given us a very special Ethiopian coffee. From Gatta farm in Sidama, this juicy coffee captures the essence of summer in every sip. Bursting with fruit-forward vibrancy, it’s both refreshing and complex. Expect notes of wild strawberry, pink lemonade, and gentle floral tones, creating a bright, moreish cup you’ll want to keep drinking.

Odaco (Pre-release & Exclusive)
Pink Lemonade, Strawberry & Floral
Origin: Ethiopia
Roast Type: Filter
Region: Sidama
Process: Natural
Variety: 74158
Altitude: 1800m
Farm: Gatta Farm
Producer: Daye Bensa
Daye Bensa's Gatta Farm sits at the heart of Shantawene village in Sidama, near the famous Bombe village. This area was natural forest until Mulugeta discovered it while managing the construction of Gafisse Station. Named after a waterfall that flows through the property, the farm is surrounded by rivers, lush vegetation, and indigenous trees over 100 years old.
The name reflects the powerful culture of the Sidama people and the Odaco tree serves as a gathering place where the Shantawene community resolves conflicts. Similar traditions exist in other parts of Ethiopia, such as in the Oromo region, where it is locally known as "oda". This lot is comprised of cherries sourced from 563 Daye Bensa member farmers in the area, along with coffee grown at the Gatta farm itself.
Scenery Coffee Roasters
(London, UNITED KINGDOM)
Founded by a team with over 30 years of combined experience, Scenery approaches coffee with honesty, humility, and openness in an industry often defined by competition. Rather than claiming superiority, the roastery focuses on doing its best—sourcing, roasting, and brewing coffees it genuinely loves. Scenery prioritizes fairness over profit, offering responsibly sourced options at various price points, from everyday brews to special releases.
Working with Scenery is always inspiring, and we always look forward to our collaboration. This one marks our first coffee ever from India in the Coffee Club. We couldn’t imagine a better partner for this origin too. From Ratingiri Estate in the Western Ghats, it delivers a vibrant cup with notes of rum punch, tropical fruit, and chocolate orange. Very exciting.

Ratnagiri Estate LBS-01 (Pre-release & Exclusive)
Rum Punch, Tropical & Chocolate Orange
Origin: India
Roast Type: Filter
Region: Chikmagalur
Process: Natural
Variety: Chandragiri
Altitude: 1340m
Producer: Ashok & Divya Patre
According to the head roaster Alex, ‘India is having a seriously exciting moment’. Long one of the nascent and upcoming origins, a burgeoning local speciality scene alongside processing pioneers is rapidly turning this origin into a powerhouse for exceptional coffees. At the cutting edge not only of Indian coffee, but in-fact of high technical intervention coffee worldwide - is Ashok & Divya Patre of Ratnagiri estate.
Ratnagiri sits nestled in the Western Ghats, near Baba Budanghiri. Mr Ashok has invested a huge amount into upgrading these facilities - with custom built stainless steel bioreactors, an on-site microbiology lab, and a "dark-room" dryer. All of these high intervention techniques allow a relatively "low" altitude farm (1300 MASL) with less hyped varieties - to put out some serious, serious bangers.
