Description

Love. Not trade. It’s the reason we got into the coffee industry. With a relentless passion to showcase the stories, smiles and sustainability efforts behind each bean that is nurtured with love from soil to cup, we are on a mission to spread the joy of great African coffee by re-writing the coffee story one cup at a time.

Kenya and the Githiru cooperative

Kenyan coffee is known for its consistently rich flavor along with a deep, wine-like acidity and pleasant aroma, Kenyan coffee beans have distinctly bright taste with complex tones of fruit and berry.

The Githiru Farmers Cooperative Society is located in Nyeri, a town known as the heart of Kenya’s black gold coffee. The cooperative has over 800 coffee farmers. The coffee is wet processed and dried over 2 weeks to reduce the moisture content to 10%-12% and then dry milled. The main varietals grown are SL28, SL34 and a few Ruiru 11 and Batian.

KamiKaze – Githiru AB

The word Kamikaze literally means “god-wind.” It comes from the name the Japanese gave to a typhoon that destroyed the Mongol ships in the 13th century and saved the country from invasion. Our Kamikaze- Githiru is pretty much the same thing- the only difference is it knocks you off your feet, literally.

Kamikaze AKA Githiru is a classic and memorable sensory experience. It has a subtle flower-toned aroma, brightly balanced acidity, full rounded body, silky smooth mouth feel with delicate yet sustained flavors: milk chocolate, flowers and a ton of black currant. Clean finish with a sweet fruit character makes this coffee a must try. Truly a Kamikaze!

ABOUT The Roaster

Our origins date back to 2009 when Kofeina Art Cafe was founded in Opole. HBCR is directly connected to the owners and employees of this unique place, which in 2016 received the Speciality Coffee Association award as the best Polish Specialty coffee house.

The 10 years of experience in Specialty Coffee industry gave start to the idea of founding Hard Beans Coffee Roasters – a coffee roasting plant specializing in the processing of high quality coffee.

In the future, we are planning to deliver not only coffee-related products but also coffee-based beverages. HBCR is made up of people with passion who share common love. Love for good coffee.
